And in "not", I mean he is below "below average" into the "poor" coach area. Some people were discussing that Kalani's .500 win % was average. I disagree:

Now Kalani has a .519 win percentage, so he is above .500 when strictly using the average number of say cookies between 0 and 100, numerically, he is above average. Those numbers or averages don't count in football.
Here are a few numbers and averages for part of my conclusion of Kalani being a poor coach. The previous coaches are here for data point reference only. This is NOT a plea to bring back the preceding coach. While I liked his results, his trend was downward in both overall wins and his stinking yewt win trend. But he does have data points:
Kalani Record Win % Conclusion
Overall 27-25 .519 Poor Record
P5 7-12 .368 Yewt Poor Record
FBS 17-13 .567 Average Record
FCS 3-0 1000 Expected - therefore Average
MWC 8-8 .500 Below Average Record
Yewts 0-4 .000 Unacceptable. Acceptable = 2-2 (being foregiving; it should be 4-0)
BSU Donkeys 1-3 .250 Unacceptable. Acceptable = 3-1
Dairy Yewts 2-2 .500 Unacceptable. Acceptable = 4-0
Bronco Record Win % Conclusion
Overall 99-43 .697 Very Good
P5 18-21 .462 Average, could be slightly below avg
FBS 75-18 .806 Very Good
FCS 7-0 1000 Expected - therefore Average
MWC 50-13 .794 Expected - therefore Average
Yewts 3-7 .300 Unacceptable. Acceptable = 7-3 (should be 10-0)
BSU Donkeys 2-2 .500 Unacceptable. Acceptable = 3-1
Dairy Yewts 6-2 .750 Barely Acceptable. S/B 8-0

So even Gary Crowton had a better winning percentage (by 1% point, GC would slip into the baseball playoffs) than Kalani.
Any way you look at game wins, Kalani falls short.
Watching Kalani teams perform is disappointing in the level of execution, player performance, scheme, adjustments, etc. You did not need to worry or wonder about scheme or team prep generally under previous coaches. Previous teams lost games, but rarely did they look out-schemed by the coach from the little sisters of the poor jr. college as we've seen time and again with Kalani. Kalani is an overall, very low ceiling, disaster of a coach. I'm all for a new head coach and coaching staff.
Yes, yes, yes, he's VERY nice, bleeds blue and all that. I'm glad he does. Much more warm and fuzzy than the previous coach. But at the end of the day, he is a poor coach, and his record bears that out.
