it can certainly haul a lot more.

I wouldn’t get any midsize SUV if I planned to regularly haul more than 5 people.

Agreed. Our family of 5 fits comfortably in pretty much any midsize SUV

I'd probably go with a Yukon XL as the tow specs are similar and the comfort level would be higher.
