Isn't this what playing competitive sports has prepared these athletes for?
Players who have played sports their whole lives understand that the higher you go up the ladder the more competitive it is and it becomes a business of who can contribute. Signing on the dotted line doesn't guarantee you a spot on the team for 4 straight years. If it becomes obvious that you don't have the talent or work ethic to contribute, good programs will take away your scholarship. True competitors will want to see the field even if it means jumping down in competition.
