1. If your work is fulfilling and your have great relationships, don't chase money.
2. Don't try negotiating for top dollar. Accept the salary offer if it is normal and competitive for the level of work. Fair compensation is better for you. When times get tough, senior people will layoff the higher paid people relative to level of work. (few agree with me on this).
3. To my younger self, i would advise, don't worry so much. It'll work out.
