This isn't just a BYU problem (its a bigger issue at BYU due to the numbers)..
BYU, Utah, USU... they all 'bump' mission kids out a year (ask them to enroll winter not fall). Mission kids should just accept that they'll spend the summer/fall they get home getting back in shape.
USU had a big issue with scholarships this past year (25+ OL guys with scholarships on the roster).
Utah just doesn't put walk-on's on scholarship that often. And when they do, it's mostly in their senior year.
