PVC is lighter than rubber and more common now. It holds up just fine.
Rubber rolls easier and therefore can be easier to store/transport but as mentioned is also heavier.
If you’re mostly fishing I’d recommend a drift boat if you can do it. Rafts aren’t that great for fishing, but in my life the white water is priority 1 and fishing is a nice bonus.
