Out of curiosity (and a recently revived interest in tennis), I wanted to watch some BYU tennis. I figured I could see how advanced they were, look for technique and strategy I could work toward.

It wasn't available on BYUtv, that I could find. Some highlights and full matches were on YouTube.

What I saw was good tennis being played in a vacuum. I think there were some fans at a match vs. Utah. And it seemed like the number of players for BYU was pretty limited, like maybe 10 men?

As much as I take some pride in BYU's Olympic sports achievements, the benefit of non-revenue sports to a university is very limited. It provides a really great opportunity to a very small number of students. I don't know the overall cost of something like a tennis program, but it could be significant. On a cost/benefit basis, I have a hard time justifying it. That would be true for revenue sports, too, if they flounder and don't generate more than their operating costs.

Maybe CV19, the earthquake, and the riots have just got me down, I dunno.
