Any gun recommendations for a first-timer?

Still trying to convince my bleeding heart wife to let me get one. Rioters went by our old neighborhood last night several miles away (they kept going when they saw cops blocking the entrances), so I’m hoping that’ll push her over the edge.

I want it for home defense.

Go to a range and shoot a bunch of them. You may like what I hate. You'll find what you like.

Borrow, probably not. But you can usually rent them at the range.
