Agreed- traveling is another thing. Generally, our parents lived more simply.
Now kids feel like they need to go see the world before they have the means. They drive expensive cars and carry $1,000 phones.
Social media is a driver too where they see what others have and do (whether borrowed or given to them by wealthy parents, or by hard work combined with good fortune), and feel like they should also have and do those things. But they don't know how others have what they have.
