Part of that is because you have to develop a level of skill in how you retrieve the line when the fish are less active, and part of that is as the water temps warm, the fish go deeper. Most people don't fish rubber worms deep enough to catch much of anything in warmer temperatures. I'm about ready to switch over to deeper water crank baits here in Missouri because rubber worms are less effective now that its warmer. I'd imagine in Florida the bass are sitting on the bottom of the ponds not very active, so you need a deeper diving bait. Or, you have to cast and then wait 4-8 seconds to let the rubber worm drop deep enough to be down where the fish are.
