Look closely at the EOB you get from the insurance company. It’ll show how much
of the $23k they actually pay. Which ends up being between 35-60% of the charges depending on the contract between insurance and hospital.

You are correct that funding medicine in this country is wacky.

The real fact is that on-demand 24/7 cushy health care is super expensive. We all need to come to this realization.
