As a physician, I think that bill is insane. I have been hit myself by bills
like that. Last year I got bill for $700 from the lab, for what I considered routine blood work. I agree with you, our healthcare system is a mess financially. And I am guessing that the ER doctor will probably get no more than a couple of hundred dollars. The lion's share of health care bills are to the hospital / the facility, etc. and not to the doctors.

That's crazy. I took my son to the ER a couple weeks ago because I was worried about appendicitis and our overall charge
