RE: Do you have HS age kids in the state?
I grew up out of State (unfortunately, many years ago) and came to Utah as a Senior in High School. As an out of state kid, I thought the only place I wanted to go to College was BYU. So when I moved to the State of Utah (Skyline High), my thought was that all of my classmates would be BYU fans as well. Boy was I wrong, most of my classmates (yes, the LDS ones) seemed to hate and ridicule BYU, when I said I was hoping to go to BYU, I was laughed at. My impression was that because most of the kids were LDS, it was very uncool to say you wanted to attend BYU. Looking back at their perspective, I guess not wanting to go to someplace so familiar was understandable.

From my perspective, growing up outside the State of Utah, BYU was the goal if you could achieve it. Until I moved to Utah, I never attended a School (Elementary, Middle or High School) that had more than a handful of LDS kids (sometimes I was the only one). BYU was something you worked for (academically and otherwise) for at least the last four years of your schooling to achieve.
