If any side of it or a blend of both were perfect then front offices would nail drafts and trades consistently. There is just too much of the game that analytics miss for it to be heavily relied on in regards to player evaluations, especially at a systematic and cultural fit within an organization.
But you did miss my point in regards to market inefficiencies in the NBA, especially with centers using the Gobert and Theis example. But that stems back more to my original statement that Gobert can’t be one of your top 2 highest paid players to be a championship level team in the current CBA. You can believe that he is a top 20 player, and I can believe he isn’t. But I bet you I can find more people around the league that agree with my premise overall
