Rare goal from Darius Kasparitis sends Pittsburgh to the conference finals vs NJD. Pittsburgh tied Game 6 at the very end of regulation and won in OT, then took this game in OT also (in fact, Games 5, 6, and 7 all ended 3-2 in OT).

These playoffs were the end of an era for two Czech all-time greats with the teams they’re most often identified with: Jaromir Jagr (who won his 4th consecutive Art Ross in 2000-01) was traded to Washington in the offseason and this game was the last time Dominik Hasek, winner of that year’s Vezina which gave him 6 in 8 years, would play for Buffalo (and it was kind of a weak goal to be honest).
