Question for runners out there...Just turned 54 (yesterday), and
started running regularly (2-3 times a week) a couple months ago. I've always been pretty athletic...H/S football, church basketball (until a few years ago), city league softball (till about a year ago), walked my dog pretty regularly (till we had to put him down back in January). My question is...why do my calves burn so bad very soon into my run? It gets so bad I need to stop and walk a ways before starting to run again. The more I've run, it's gotten a little better, but not much Got a new pair of shoes this last weekend...FILA Running with memory foam, they helped a little too, but just a little. Towards the end of my run/walk I do a few wind-sprints up street with a mild incline. The calves don't bother me so much then. Is it my running style? Will it help if I lose a few pounds? I'm 5'11", 195. Is it because I'm 54 (getting older sucks)?
