I read a fascinating book about a big game hunter who eradicated rogue tigers and elephants in India back in the 40s. He had a deep respect for nature and only killed rogue animals. With one slight exception — wild dogs.
He had seen packs of wild dogs (non domesticated) destroy every apex predator (and every other living creature in their path) in the jungle with no regard to hunger. They usually just left the carcass. Kills might mean half the pack was destroyed in the process. Didn't matter, they finished the job. He would shoot the dogs on site.
I am a huge dog lover, but they must be watched and can never be allowed to run in packs with neighborhood dogs.
