I have to be honest, backpacking in that park seems both intriguing yet terrifying given all of the wildlife we saw. How experienced do I need to be to avoid being devoured by a grizzly or wolf on a backpacking trip?

We came about 50 yards from a grizzly while backpacking a few years back.

We’ve run into bears going up to Surprise Lake twice and once on this side

Always be in a group of 3 or more and you'll be fine. 3 people is the magic
