If you dont have kids at home AirBNB is a good option.
We had a master bed/bath with a separate entrance that we rented out. We deadbolted the door to the rest of the house and never had to see the guests.

The money increased over time to a pretty good chunk. Longer stays meant minimal effort but short stays meant more money.

Some people have what I call airbnb farms where they turn every room in the house into a bedroom each with a shared kitchen and bath.
