Let me explain, if you are a beginner/intermediate golfer and you are regularly three putting greens then practicing your putting could save you 6+ shots per round. Definitely what you should be doing. But if you are a decent putter who averages somewhere between 32-36 putts per round spending hours practicing putts is probably not going to shave a ton of strokes off your round.
At least for me, putting has never been a problem. If I could dial in my driver a little better I could easily shave off 4 or 5 strokes a round. That's the club that costs me the most. Also I think pitching is underrated. If you can get inside five feet from anywhere around the green you can be a below average putter and still make plenty of pars.
