But it makes me uneasy. I've fished for sport in Alaska but have always kept the fish for food. I enjoy stream fishing even more, but again for food. To me it only seems logical fish, like most other complex creatures, were built with some sort of pain as a preservation mechanism.
Similarly I'd love to go hunting in Alaska for the experience of the wildlife and the outdoors, but don't really need deer, caribou or moose meat, so have shied away from doing so. While I'm fine with firearms, I'm also a bit queasy about destroying the wildlife I'd be out there to see. I've got no problem with those who do so to live off the land or are part of keeping animal populations in control.
