Yep. For example, the Big 10 is saying that they are going to start out by
playing all of the teams in your division, because those are the most important for crowning a division champ. Once those are done, they will play some games from the other division. If something happens and teams (or even a single team in the conference) is only able to get in 6 or 7 or 8 games, it is most important that they play division games first and then non-division conference games. The B1G doesn't want to find itself having to shut down some teams or the whole league after a couple of months while having teams play games against an FCS team and a MAC team while not having played a couple of division opponents. They want to be able to reasonably name division winners if something happens down the road. That, and the ability to change schedules on a dime, are the biggest reasons for this, along with uniform health and safety guidelines.
