I was on my way up to Island Park. Between Saint Anthony and Ashton a wolf jogged across the road in front on me. I had to slam on my breaks to avoid hitting him. He just kept jogging right into a field and disappeared. If my head lights hadn’t caught his eyes, I’m not sure I would have seen him until it was too late.

We spent much of Sunday in Lamar Valley with our scopes hoping to spot a wolf and nothing. Several bears, a couple of foxes, the biggest herd of bison I’ve ever seen, but no wolf sighting. Then tonight I almost hit one with my car outside of the park. It was so surreal.
