I've got a kid on my Tball team whose dad played in the majors briefly. He's
been cool to work with and helps out at practices. I didn't assign a specific assistant coach, but I just ask parents to jump in and help as needed. Last practice we had 5-6 parents helping out with various hitting stations.

Parents can make coaching difficult for sure. That's a tough age group too. The kids at that age need actual skills to succeed, and the bad ones haven't quit playing yet, so you get a big disparity in talent.
