This is what I’m hearing from my friends in Norman. Adding BYU as a member for 2020 season has not been actively discussed by the school President’s or conference big wigs. Adding the +1 allows them to play a 10 game schedule, and as attractive as BYU is, the +1 Just gives team’s more flexibility to keep other natural rivalry games, etc.
I hear it’s not that the big 12 has anything against BYU per se, it’s just a matter of logistics. The +1 provides more flexibility and gives some control to each team for the 10th game.
I think it’s still 50/50 we even have a college football season.
But, if we do, BYU will be playing a solely G5 schedule. It sucks we lost out on all those P5 games this year. But, there are a ton of teams out there now looking for games. Byu won’t have problems filling their schedule. Not the end of the world. Go Cougs.
