Went to a stake conference once where Elder Perry went off on this topic
Probably posted this before, but he explained that, IIRC, he and his wife decided to give their kids part of their inheritance early, to help pay off their mortgages, thinking of the ways they would benefit from the financial freedom. But then the kids apparently all sold their houses and used the equity to buy bigger ones with new mortgages. Was pretty surprising tangent for a stake conference. He also spoke about the problem of members of the church taking worse opportunities to live in Utah rather than enriching themselves, the church, and communities by taking jobs elsewhere.
