How do you think President Packer--who was a CES guy then a GA for his entire career--ended up with 3 houses and a fishing boat etc. The Church pays for a lot of things for the Q15 that don’t show up as part of their $140k ‘living stipend’ (houses, cars, insurance, free tuition for kids and grandkids, I'm sure spending money for all travel and even family trips etc.) There are some good articles you can find that analyze houses owned by the GAs. Long story short: the Church owns many of them and transfers ownership to the Apostles. My point isn't to say this is wrong or right or good or bad, but rather to point out that there's no way someone can be a GA for 50+ years and have wealth WITHOUT the Church paying for a lot of stuff.
