the Utahns (frequently at the spouse's incessant pining away for home) all wanted to go back to the kinfolk. As somebody from the east, I can cite a dozen examples of Utah friends who would leave (e.g., NY state, Ohio, Delaware, Georgia, etc) good jobs in nice wards with no job waiting in Utah just so they could be back in Utah Nirvana. I like Utah a lot, too, and I think the run-back-to- Utah syndrome has gotten better in recent the years, but it does leave a bit of a bitter taste in some people's mouths when nice Utahns make it clear they want no part of living longterm in the "mission field". It's a free country, so live where you like, but understand there are ramifications to the Utah is the very best attitude.
