I’m recently engaged.
My fiancée’s family is pretty traditional so they seem to expect to split costs in the traditional way. I have no idea what they expect to spend though.
On some things they seem to be willing to pay a lot for, like buying a wedding dress vs rent, having a lot of good food, and flowers. But the reception(and probably the wedding given that I expect temples to be closed) will just be in their backyard.
