gas to the unit than the existing service can provide, i.e., tankless heaters (for the whole house) require much more fuel while operating than is typically plumbed and available for a storage water heater. Plus, depending on your water quality, you may need to flush it annually which if you have a plumber do isn't cheap and/or you'll need to install a softener if you don't already have one. But, the convenience is convenient.
