Why not let the players make their demands, and let the market decide?

If what they're asking for is contrary to what the market is willing to offer, we'll find out soon enough. But, I think almost everybody realizes that the market IS willing to offer at least some of what they're asking for. And that is really what's bothering a lot of people.
