This year they haven't been paid their full stipend. They started getting 'paid' again this month.. but instead of monthly, they are getting paid weekly (players assume they are S(imply)OL if the season is canceled).
Normally they only get their full stipend winter/fall.. and smaller in spring. Most players can save to cover May/June/July.
The big issue is food... In 2017 BYU cut back on the meals it gave players. It's now down to one meal per day unless its spring camp, fall camp or the season. That's a lot of weeks kids are trying to find meals and keep up their weight.
