As long as the player does not play in more than 5 of those games, it is a free season as far as eligibility goes? Or if they have 12 games, then they can play in up to 6 games? Since it is not a regular type season, you can sit most of the guys half the year (or at least those who you would like to not lose a year of eligibility) even if they are better players, to take advantage. I know you normally would play your best guys at almost all times, but with this season being so weird, may want to think about preserving eligibility for more guys than you normally would by not having them play more than 50% of the games.
