It was a good year for EFY. Remember the Promise was the theme that year. Very moving stuff.

Some kids were so moved that they decided to stand up every time a hymn was sung. By Tuesday, everyone would just stand up for every song. It was pretty Pentecostal for a Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saint sponsored youth event.

But on Thursday, something happened. A young girl, probably 16, stood up first. And for the first time all week everyone just decided that it made no sense to stand up to sing. So that girl just kept standing, kept singing, and she was the only one. To this day I have more second hand embarrassment at that than anything else I’ve ever seen.

I hope the Pac12 and Big 10 feel that ridiculous when everyone else plays football and they lose hundreds of millions of dollars.
