Obviously I wasn't there so I'm not certain.. but when I was going through a similar interview process in NYC years
ago... I ran into this type of interview a few times.
Egos are important to manage when hiring at these firms... they wanted to see if I could handle myself in a situation where I knew I was right and the other guy was wrong/a jerk/an egomaniac etc....
