My wife and I noticed we liked people in our lives a lot more the more we stayed away from social media because people act like complete morons on social media and not like themselves. Similar to the idea of how people act when they're behind a steering wheel. Because they're protected by a car/computer, they feel they can do and say whatever they want with no repercussions...
