I've lived in several parts of VA, a small town in NC, Southwest WA and Utah. Each had it's awesome stuff and each has it's unappealing features.
NoVa: lots to do, good schools, food church presence. Horribly expensive, traffic is just awful
Central VA: lots of the greatness of VA without the traffic, love all the trees. Starting to get too humid.
Southeast VA: beach access, I enjoyed being around military families. Humid, also traffic
NC: beautifil scenery, smaller-town feel. Again with the humidity, felt a little more isolated as a church member there.
SW WA: also smaller town feel but close to Portland (maybe not a postiitve right now), access to a ton of great outdoors stuff, good church presence. The rain is seriously a downer, probably the biggest reason I wouldn't move back
Utah: I know people hate on the Utah church culture, I honestly ignore the bad stuff and like that in canwalk to church (back when people went to church), great outdoors, tobs of kid stuff. I miss trees everytime I go back to VA and then come home, getting expensive
