I liked my 9 years in TX. I thought great food was limited to 3 things: 1. Beef,
2. Tex-Mex, 3. Barbeque. Entertainment options were excellent (DFW area). Extracurriculars for kids were great but academics were sub-par (get your kids into AP courses). Housing prices and home quality were great. Property taxes were astronomical partially offset by no state income tax. Friendly people and very good Church set-up. The heat/humidity combo was brutal but we like 4 seasons. Traditional values still relatively strong in TX. Overall it makes my top 3 list out of 10 places I have lived.
