Is this a new theory brought upon us by modern coaches, trainers, and entitled athletes? Was their this load management long ago but just named something else? i cant recall Jordan, Bird, Magic let alone Chamberlain, Reed, Dr J, etc all pacing themselves during the season in hopes of a better off season. I remember Bird in meaningless games laying on the ground during time outs to help his back pain. it seems like everyone played through injuries more in the past. Maybe i am completely naive but i just dont recall teams taking nights off when i was growing up. I have doubts that tanking games for any reason is that helpful for a teams chemistry and playoff hopes. Any thoughts?
