Meaning when they're "old enough". I've already seen what happens when one goes down the YouTube tunnel. That's scary enough. But seeing how social media plays a giant part in the mental health and over all well being of kids/teens growing up I'm thinking when that time comes...and it will come...when they want to be on it because "all of their friends and everyone else is (including Mom and Dad)", how I'm going to approach it. I firmly believe one of our greatest roles as parents is helping to instill a powerful sense of self worth in our kids. And so much of what teens and kids have to deal with technology wise in this day and age seems to have a giant impact on that.
The older 2 already think they need phones, especially my 9 yr old. It's a hard heck no on that one and likely will be for a few more years at the minimum and if we do get them one when they enter Middle School it'll be of the Gabb Variety that has no apps and limited uses. Or something similar to it.
I'm also rethinking my use of Social Media because of it.
Those who've kids in Middle/High School what's been your approach to it? I understand this has been discussed on here before, but was too lazy to go back and search for old threads on it.
