My oldest just turned 16 today
He is generally a good kid and pretty trustworthy and so excited to be able to drive by himself.

I am really struggling with the thought of giving him the keys and letting him drive off on his own. He will likely just be driving around town to hang out with friends, going to practice, school, and work. He is generally pretty cautious (at least with me) but he misses stop signs all the time still (my wife and I have to remind him). He forgets where he is going. He's just not a very good driver right now. He is probably a typical brand new driver but he scares me something crazy.

I'm not sure if this is just a time of me needing to let him spread his wings and fly or if I need to be putting down some serious restrictions on his driving. To start we are thinking of not allowing him to drive on the freeway, drive at night, or drive with friends (per state law).

Any advice for a couple of anxiety filled parents of a new driver to be.
