You're one of our players, out there playing with no fans, friends or family there to support you. You step on the field, make your first play – perhaps you ran a route, or made a block – and then, you hear it. The cheer of the fans. It's just your imagination, of course. Next play, you hear it again. It eases your nerves a bit. The next play is huge — Troy's QB throws a pick six, and the fans go wild. But, hang on. You really can hear it. It's not just your imagination. It's faint, but they're there. At first you can't believe it, but pretty soon you can distinctly hear them moving from wild cheers into the fight song. They came!
Just outside the stadium, in the parking lot, a small but loud group of the loyalest, strongest, truest bluest Cougar football fans have gathered with their radios, phones and tablets, even a couple TVs on generators hooked up to them are listening and watching the game, making sure to cheer extra loud, and having an experience they'll never forget. And neither will you.
Let's make it happen. Turn on Wrubell or stream it if you can. Bring a grill, cooler, camp chairs, and make yourself comfortable. Heck, paint your face if you feel like it. Our players are giving this their all. Let's show them how much we appreciate it.
Follow the guidelines, of course. Bring a mask, and stay distanced from others. Keep your group smaller than 20, and stay well away from other groups. We can be responsible, respectful of others and of the current regulations, and still have a great, safe, unforgettable time.
