I'm in my 40s and have hunted with a rifle but never with a bow. I've never even drawn a compound bow. I'm trying to gauge how much practice I would need in order to be ready for next year's fall bow season. Obviously everyone is different but would appreciate any data points you have (obviously all CB hunters will be better than average, I know).

And yes, I know it depends on how close my range needs to be in order for me to feel ready. I'm comfortable that if I establish my known range, I can pass up shots that are beyond it. But I'm not sure I want to go on a hunt if I can only reliably shoot to 25 yards, for example.
