Took a huge blow last Saturday. There is no denying it.
No one watched it, but everyone noticed the score. It's a big set back. We actually lost. We lost the ability to point at our dominating performances as proof we are playoff worthy. It didn't hurt us in the rankings but it will be a factor when it matters. Once they compare our schedule to the other teams fighting for the playoffs we will already be losing the argument. In addition, we have to add in that the fact we beat UTSA by only 7 points was a fluke let down game. OK. Still doable. How doable though?
We dropped from a 9% chance to a 5% chance of making the playoffs despite going up in the rankings. (If it makes you feel any better Utah has a 2% chance of making the playoffs. Also Florida has a 74% chance of making the playoffs if they win out, but only a 4% chance of making the playoffs. )
Every pollster has us in the top 25, even the P5 hater Soren Petro decided to put us in at #24.
Our new pollster love child is Brian Howell, ranking us in at #7
Anyways, this Friday is big. We need a blowout. Eyes will be watching us and we have to return to the idea we sold week 1 against Navy. That we have a NFL bound QB and we will continue to blow out our competition.
