I was a student in 1984 and all we heard nonstop from the all-knowing fans
Was how we could never win a national championship, we weren’t allowed in the New Year’s Day bowl and you had to play in one of those balls to win a national championship. The people around the country didn’t respect us so they wouldn’t vote as number one. How we really didn’t deserve it. How a one play win over Hawaii wasn’t enough.
Turns out they were all wrong and those of us who celebrated for five months had a much better time and much more enjoyment than those it celebrated for 60 minutes after the final play the night we beat Michigan
