Yeah, I really think that's a big part of it. They are just trying to protect themselves. But I agree with you--enjoy
the ride while it lasts.
Don't let the downs be so devastating that you have to always predict gloom and doom just to keep yourself from getting hurt when the downs inevitably come.
Fandom is supposed to be an enjoyable pass time.
