...we're running the offense that we ran last year when Baylor Romney was in the game with the focus on being quick throws getting the ball out early and managing the pocket better. They rarely call RPO this year and have Zach focusing on being a better game manager and as a result his receivers get the ball when they have time to make a play and get some extra yards. In the Utah St game last year over half of our 400+ yds passing vs the Aggies was YAC as both Hall and Romney focused on timing.
Many CB'ers commented on how much better our offense looked putting together and finishing drives in the end zone last year in the Boise St and Utah St games. Grimes and Arod have done a good job fitting this approach around Zach's physical gifts. As a result he's calling his own number a lot less and doing a better job utilizing the playmakers around him. I love seeing him dump off to Wake, Katoa and Allgeier swinging out of the backfield if nothing is open downfield instead of tucking it and running or forcing a ball into heavy coverage. Combined they have 24 catches for over 250 yds and 3 TD's.
