Imagine you and I called the game. From our dens or family rooms or hovels. Entertaining for awhile. Then, irritating.

That is Rod and the announcer. They were not even at the game. They were hundreds-make that thousands of miles away in their homes.

Their "view" of the game was our view. It is confined to whatever the camera guy caught--or, in the case of Dax Milne's fantastic TD, didn't catch-- until replay.

On a REAL broadcast, announcers and color guys have a much different perspective.

There was a major flaw exposed beside Rod's mild to actual anti Cougar bias: location, location, location.

And, for the record, I would ROCK doing color on the game.
