i think what people are missing is that the refs are there to maintain control.
The refs just arbitrarily decided there were not calling anything on Texas St anymore. They sent the signal and TxSt received it. On the long run the hold on 47 by the OLineman is what opened the hole with almost 12 minutes left in the 4th quarter. No hold (or takedown) and 47 fills the hole and no long run. There were numerous holds and takedowns on their TD drive in the 4th. For crying out loud when the RB caught the "screen pass" he was past the line to make and two of the OL were right there already blocking before he caught the ball which helped him be open on the play. They were 5-6 yards down the field! This gets really frustrating on the defense that is trying to get reps and if when that frustration boils over we may start seeing cheap shots and/or fights ensue (or someone loses a season from a cheap shot). Also, what are they telling the players (especially the reserves?)

Something I think funny is Dave Flemming apparently didn't agree with Rod but didn't want to discuss it (" yeah, I'll just keep telling the story about the drive").

Just call the game all the way through. I can see letting up on a semi blatant hold or a twitch before the snap, but when they let it all go trouble usually ensues and maybe then us "dumber fans" that want blatant penalties called might not look so dumb.
