They are trying to prove something, and want and need to have some stats and impact on the game. They deserve to play, and deserve to get better. I get the points of likeness of "expanding the strike zone," etc. But, the game should be called fairly for all involved. I don't think BYU was wrong to throw it and even throw it deep. I remember begging (at the screen) for Bronco to do the same.
We want to be classy, but one of the reasons Lavell had success with "reloading" was that 2nd and 3rd string often got a lot of live, in-game reps running the standard offenses and defenses and were thus far more ready when it was their turn to step up. I hope we continue with that philosophy and take any heat for it with class and understanding that it is making us and our future better.
